International roaming with your Austria SIM card is not the cheapest alternative for staying in touch while on the road, but it can be convenient for crossing into Switzerland or Germany for a weekend. Activating your service

Your Austria mobile phone number is located at the top of your welcome letter containing the Austria SIM card and begins +43 650. It is also located in the upper right hand corner of your Twist Austria SIM card packaging above the bar code and under the text "ihre Ruhnummer".

  1. Travel to Austria.
  2. Be sure that the battery is adequately charged.
  3. Insert the SIM card into your GSM phone*.
  4. Turn your phone on.
  5. Enter the PIN code^.
  6. Start calling.

* You will need to snap out the thumbnail sized SIM card along the perforated edge of its holder and then insert the SIM card into your international mobile phone with the gold contacts of the SIM card facing the metal contacts of your mobile phone.

^ Your phone will prompt you for a 4 digit PIN code, which is located under the first tab of the welcome letter affixed to the SIM card. The PUK is only required to unblock your cell phone if you enter in a PIN code incorrectly. Follow your cell phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your Austria SIM card if this occurs.

Making and receiving calls

How to make a call

To make an international call from your Austria mobile phone dial 00 (or +), followed by the country code (1 for the US), area code and phone number.

How family and friends call you

Family and friends need to dial the international prefix then the country code 43 and your mobile phone number.
For example, when calling from the United States, callers need to dial 011 43 and then your mobile phone number.

Recharging your account

To add credit to your Austria SIM card, you will need to purchase recharge vouchers, also called Twist-Refill. You will find these vouchers at most local local Tabac shops, convenience stores, TeleRing shops and authorized dealers in Austria. They are available in 2 denominations: 20 EUR ($24 USD) and 35 EUR ($42 USD).

To recharge your account:

  1. Purchase a recharge voucher.
  2. Scratch off the grey protective layer to reveal your voucher code.
  3. Enter your voucher code.

Do not purchase another Austria SIM card when your credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher!

Customer service for your Austria SIM card is available 24/7 by dialing 0650 650 from your mobile phone.

Service life

Every time you recharge your account, the validity of your SIM card will be extended for 15 months.

If you do not recharge your account within 15 months, your SIM card and phone number will be recycled and any remaining credit will be forfeit. To get connected again you will be required to purchase another SIM card.
